چکیده

This work presents an economic and simple method to manufacture low cost, but effective adsorbents for CO2 capture through impregnating DETA to a low cost, porous silica gel. The results have demonstrated that the low cost silica gel impregnated by low molecular-weight amine is stable and work very well at a temperature up to 130 C. The developed adsorbent has a fast adsorption kinetics and can be regenerated at a low temperature. This will significantly reduce the energy used to desorb CO2, therefore the energy penalty. The effect of amine loading on the textural properties, thermal stability, and CO2 capture performance of the impregnated silica gel is also reported in this paper. 10% amine loading gives the best porosity, stability and the highest adsorption capacity. 2016 Elsevier Ltd. Functionalized Polymeric Membranes for CO2 Capture

Reducing CO2 emission and lowering the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has quickly become one of the most urgent environmental issues. While a variety of technologies and methods have been developed, the separation of CO2 from gas streams is still a critical issue. Apart from establishing new techniques, the exploration of membrane materials with high separation performance ...

Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage: A General Review on Adsorbents

CO2 is the primary anthropogenic greenhouse gas, accounting for 77% of the human contribution to the greenhouse effect in 2004. In the recent years, global concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is increasing rapidly. CO2 emissions have an impact on global climate change. Anthropogenic CO2 is emitted primarily from fossil fuel combustion. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is one option for reduc...

Membrane-Cryogenic Post-Combustion Carbon Capture of Flue Gases from NGCC

Membrane gas separation for carbon capture has traditionally been focused on high pressure applications, such as pre-combustion capture and natural gas sweetening. Recently a membrane-cryogenic combined process has been shown to be cost competitive for post-combustion capture from coal fired power stations. Here, the membrane-cryogenic combined process is investigated for application to post-co...

Water Vapor Adsorption on Biomass Based Carbons under Post-Combustion CO₂ Capture Conditions: Effect of Post-Treatment.

The effect of post-treatment upon the H₂O adsorption performance of biomass-based carbons was studied under post-combustion CO₂ capture conditions. Oxygen surface functionalities were partially replaced through heat treatment, acid washing, and wet impregnation with amines. The surface chemistry of the final carbon is strongly affected by the type of post-treatment: acid treatment introduces a ...
